After the 5-1 defeat to Phoenix last week this was always going to be a difficult game to get a result from.
A closely contested first 1/2, with Phoenix taking lead on the 35 minute when a cross from the Phoenix right, the no.9 getting between Warren and Steve, bundled the ball over the line.
20 minutes into the second half, Warren took a long throw into the box which Tom took on his chest and turning outside and leaving his marker fired a left footer into the far corner.
With a Phoenix player left unmarked in the centre of defence, a long through ball gave him a chance to break free. Aido gave chase and got a toe poke on the ball, only for the ball to be steered by Rory for an O.G.
Things looked lost when Brazilian Vini handled the ball in the box, a peno for Phoenix. Rory pulled off an excellent save diving to his right.
Dollymount kept on fighting for a result and were reward when a free kick out on the Dollymount left was wiped in by Warren into the crowded box. With nobody touching the ball, it went straight into the far corner for Warren's first goal of the season.
There should have been a penalty awarded when Steve was kneed in the lower back and sent to the ground.
Ronan's work rate epitomised the spirit in the Dollymount Team.

Dollymount have a slim chance of making the final of shield, but we have to win our final 2 shield games.and the other teams draw or just take points off each and share them around. All the teams are on equal footing and any team can beat any team at any time, so as I say, we still have a chance if results go our way.
Snippet from 3 trout rovers write-up
"Dollymount’s coach came on up front for them (despite being older than the rest of their team he had been their stand-out player in our first game)and kept trying to break through on goal without much joy"

Shield b div 3 Dundrum 4v3 Dollymount
Dundrum 4-3 Dollymount
Dollymount started strong but Dundrum scored on the 10 minute after a good build up. It was 50/50 in the 1st half from there with Dollymount not getting a single shot on target. 1 nil half time. Dundrum scored in first and fifth minutes of second half. Steve came on for forward Vinicius 55 minute at 3-0. Dollymount upped the tempo and soon had 1 back through a Ronan goal, his first of the season and well deserved. Dundrum had a break away and made it 4-1 but Dollymount kept pressing and long throw ins from Steve and Kellier's flick ons causing the Dundrum defense all kinds of trouble. Dollymount got 2 back, Tom Lillis 20 yard shot to the top right and Niall Tobin forcing the other one over the line from close range ( I mean a 35 yard screamer) with 10 minutes remaining.
Dollymount kept pushing for a fourth and should have scored, first from a volley from goalkeeper Fionn and in the dying seconds, a diving header from Aido but Dundrum held on for a good win.

Dollymount were the stronger team in the first half and made the better chances but it ended 0-0 at half time.
The 2nd half started with end to end football. Alan Kelly settled the home side with a goal after 15 mins with the assist from Craig Henry. 25 minutes in, Jason Colton broke down the left and rifled the ball into the roof of the net from 15 yards.
AGP fought to get back into the match and got a goal for their efforts when Dollymount keeper Rory Lynch pulled off a fine save, only for the ball to be parried of defender Fionn Daly and into the net.

The Star Brookfield v Dollymount
THE STAR
TARGET

(3) BROOKFIELD 8V0 DOLLYMOUNT (0)
Match played in heavy rain and strong winds and on a very mucky pitch and on a hill.
Only the bare 11 including James Tracy who came out for the second week to make up the numbers.
Team:
Vinny,
Warren, Aido, Fionn,
Jason, Steve, Tom, Ben, William,
James, Craig.
NO SUBS
The score could and should have been a lot closer. In the 1st half the ref didn't give 2 stone wall penalties, Tom should have scored and James should have at least got a shot away after been put clear through in the box by Steve, but missed the ball completely, after he made an excellent run to get into a good goal scoring position. So could have been 3 all at half time.
2nd Half
Craig missed an opener , with only the keeper to beat he pass the ball wide of the post.
the biggest miss of the day was by Steve. Tom sent a fine cross from the right over 3 defenders and arriving at Steve, who somehow managed to knee the ball over the bar. Jason also had a few decent chances.

afc Justice 2 v 1 Dollymount
Scorer: Kellier
Looping ball down the right line from Ronan, for Quinner to chase down. Quinner beats defender to ball, rounds another and as keeper comes to close him down he neatly side foots the ball to Kellier on his inside and he coolly passes the ball into the net. A deserved 1-0 lead.
afc justice were let take the lead with some sloppy passing between midfield and defence that should not have been tried in these mucky conditions.
Dollymount played well in the second half and deserved to at least get a draw.
If The wings were used more often Dollymount would have made a lot more chances.

9 MAN DOLLYMOUNT DRAW IN WICKLOW
THREE TROUT ROVERS 1 V 1 DOLLYMOUNT
Vinny
Ronan, Tom, Owen
Steve, Tobin, Quinner, Jay
Craig
Scorer: Jason Colton
No Bookings
Three Trout Rovers scored in the first minute and it looked like it was going to be a rout but the 9 men of Dollymount didn't drop their heads, instead they decided to make no more mistakes and didn't let 3 trout settle.
After about 20 minutes Dollymount played the ball out of defence and it finished with Craig picking out Jason from the right wing and J scored the equaliser. Dollymount held on quite easily after that, apart from the save of the season so far by Vinny, as ball look certain to end in the bottom right corner of the net Vinny some how save backwards and get both hands on the ball.
In the second Dollymount could have won the match and actually deserved to, with shots from Quinner and Jason going close, Steve heading over from a corner and Craig hitting the inside of the post. Dollymount also had numerous corners. The defence of Tom, Ronan and Owen held firm and their shape, that Vinny didn't have to make a save.
The midfield of Niall Tobin, Quinner, Jason and Steve worked tirelessly and Craig held the ball up brilliantly to give the rest of the team a rest.

A great performance by dollymount was had on saturday, With only 9 men vs 11 we put up quite a desplay of football at times, Bear in mind that with 3 of the 9 players having not played a full game in some time, Myself, Neil Tobin on his debute and steve oconnor, and a few players carrying injuries, The score line did not reflect the performance, with it been 2.0 at half time, and off side goal and hand ball, ( The ref was blind ) and an unfortunate own goal, that makes the score line 4.0 again ill go back to the 9 men vs 11. great work by you all,
A few things to note, a great positiveness in the way we played and backed each other up, No arguing or giving out and backing eachother up, Its somthing that we have had missing for awhile, But what we need are players letting Steve know if they are deffinitly turning up or not, No one is a mind reader, If you say you might be able to turn up and cant then just say so one way or the other so we know for deffinitly what the story is with players and positions, We could of given a walkover the weekend, but on the premis we had 11 turning up we didnt, The same goes for training, It makes it easier to plan training sesions etc.
Just on the money side of things, We have a few bills that need to be paid ASAP, So start getting money in, A few of you have been paying a €5er here and there and a €20 here and there and thats great, before you know it youve paid of the €100 so keep doing that.
