Week 5 In Clontarf

Wed, 29 Jun 2011
Week 5 in Clontarf saw league leaders Fairview pick up their fifth win on the trot with another fine performance as they beat the 10th house 4-0. Fairview have conceded just one goal so far and are prooving to be very dificult to break down. They are looking like very hot favourites for the title already and could go very far in this competition.

The Liquidators had a narrow win over Real Clunge as they won 2-0. This was a very tight game but the Liquidators' defence was very tight and Clunge just couldnt break them down. The Liquidators are in second place but remain four points behind the leaders. There is still plenty of time for them to challenge for the title however.

Take it or Leave it came up against Hardly Athletic and were looking for their first win of the campaign. It wasnt to be however as they slumped to their third defeat in a row and remain rooted to the bottom of the table. Hardly sit in mid table and will be looking to push on over the coming weeks. Final score here was 8-2.

Hobos with a Shotstopper pulled off a shcok result over Dollymount and leap frogged them in the table after a fine 4-2 win. Hobos have improved greatly as the weeks have progressed and may continue to move up the table if this form continues. Dollymount still have the quality however to remain in the chase.

Real UPC had a narrow 2-0 win over Dublin Devils after an efficient performance gave them all three points. This result moves UPC up tp third in the table and they may be the dark horses of this tournament. They have plenty of quality in their ranks and may cause a few upsets yet. The Devils slip down to 8th.

The title challenge is certainly hotting up but can anyone stop Fairview? It will take a great performance to beat them!
